“38 Boxes – ways to see interior design”

My box contains the negative space of a human hand.

It symbolizes the hands-on aspect in my approach to interior design, the need for function, beauty, sensitivity, lightness of touch, tactility in a project, and perhaps most importantly, a non-formulaic approach to all projects.

The hand, seemingly floating, relates also to my interest in negative space and how we move around objects and through spaces. Interior design is (like this acid cut Perspex piece), multi-layered and should remain interesting and exciting from multiple angles.  The object is defined in its detail, its clarity, its finish. It is both classical and modern and entirely non-generic. If a hand maps its owner, so too should a home.
